Every countries’ housing market offers ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’. Malta is certainly no exception. Even though the dynamic rental market enables new arriving expats a fast and (at first sight) an uncomplicated and straight forward rental contract to move in the same day, many have experienced housing related issues at a later stage. Those newcomers who haven’t been informed thoroughly by their agent or when contacting landlords directly are more likely to sign unfavourable rental contracts where they end up paying an unnecessary high utility rates, being bothered by daily viewings when the landlord decides the sell his or her property, not receiving back the security deposit if no inventory list is attached to the contract etcetera.
